Before a Giant Wooden Fence
   A giant wooden fence has been erected to the north of here,
blocking anyone from traveling north along the path.  The fence looks
to have been built not too long ago as the scent of fresh cut tree
still lingers about the area as well as sawdust and chunks of wood
shavings.  There is a gate of solid iron in the fence to the north,
unfortunately the gate has a massive lock upon it.  It looks possible
to follow the perimeter of the fence to the west and east of here,
cutting through the forest underbrush.

Along the Perimeter of the Fence
   The fence spans out to the west and east with not much of an end in
sight.  The traveling along here is a bit harder as you are having to
fight through the underbrush of the forest to follow the perimeter of
the fence.  The dark forest blots out most of the light here, making
it very dark.  It looks possible to continue to the west, following
the fence, or go back onto the trail to the east.

   The forest blots out almost all light and the space is a bit
cramped, with vegetation spilling in on all sides.  The fence lies
directly to the south, large and imposing.  The only perceivable way

   The fence which blocks intruders from coming into the kobold
encampment lies directly to the south.  A large iron gate has been set
in the wall to allow kobolds in and out, but none others.  A small
path leads off to the east.  It also looks possible to follow the
fence to the west, into the forest.  The trail continues north,
heading for the kobold settlement.

   You tread through the deep, dark forest on a game trail.  The
forest here seems less dense than to the south.  Looking more closely
at the trail it can be seen that perhaps this isn't a game trail but
just a track made by people a lot shorter than yourself.  Northward
the faint outline of a settlement can be seen.  To the south is the
large wooden fence surrounding the settlement.

Entrance to the Kobold Settlement
   You stand at the entrance to the kobold settlement.  The settlement
seems to be a loose sprawl of mud, wood and stone huts connecting off
various muddy pathways.  A rank stench hangs in the air like too many
unwashed kobolds trying to live together in one place.  An ill-kept
trail leads east and west from here winding through among the squat
mud and stick huts of the kobolds.  A sign has been planted here in
the mucky ground.

An Ill-Kept Trail
   This is an ill-kept trail running through a kobold encampment.  The
trail is used often, but little has been done to keep it in travelable
shape.  Paving stones seem to have been laid down at one time to make
traveling easier, but now only make you trip and fall in the muck of
the trail.  Giant ruts in the trail threaten to swallow your leg whole
if one is not to careful.  To the north, a small stream can be seen.
To the south is a wooden hut.  The trail continues to the east and west.

is a large stone bridge offering dry passage over the muddy stream.
To the south is a stone and wood hut, with the smells of baked goods
drifting from it.  The trail continues to be a nuisance to any
traveler to the east and west of here.

A Large Stone Bridge
   The bridge is made of gigantic slabs of granite bound together with
heavy iron spikes.  The bridge crosses over a murky stream flowing
east and west of here.  High grasses and reeds have grown up along the
soggy banks of the stream, creating a thick barrier of vegetation
flanking the stream to the north and south.  Annoying little insects
buzz around you in an incessant hum.  To the north lies a road which
looks to actually be in pretty good shape.  To the south lies the
ill-kept trail.

A Paved Road
   The stretch of road here has actually been paved, doubtless by some
kobold whipped into action to actually get the road fixed up.  The
area here seems to be better kept, an overall more upper class sector
of the kobold settlement.  To the east stands a tall building of stone
and wood, looking to be some sort of inn.  To the west is access on to
a grassy field.  The road continues north, while to the south is the
granite bridge crossing the murky stream.

Grumbiter's Inn
   Welcome to the Grumbiter's Inn, the undisputed leader in the art of
innkeeping.  A rather charming and friendly hostess stands to the side,
ready to offer you food and drink.  While most of the patrons are kobold
locals, you spy an occasional human or two.  As you listen more closely
to the conversations that fill the inn, you hear the tales of great and
seasoned adventurers as well as the usual gossip.  You feel as if you've
found your second home in Grumbiter's Inn.
