An Alcove in the Mountains
Hidden behind some rock from what must have been a landslide ages
ago is this small alcove in the mountains. The shambles this area is
in makes it quite clear this is not a usual mountain dwelling, yet it
does appear that someone or something has been here, recently. There
appears to be carved steps leading downwards into darkness here, though
in no means a proper staircase like those around the city,

The Beast Cages
Carved into the mountain cavern sits four large cages that the
covenant uses to keep their unique pets. The creatures here are
usually subjected to many tests with dark cosmic magics, and as
a result have grown quite aggressive. Though the imprisonment and
testing sure isn't ethical, the covenant believes they must sieze
any edge they can to gain power over the high council. Occasionally
the rooms here are emptied, as a test subject is removed for its
purpose, or while the cages are being cleaned.

Grudat's Storeroom
This is the hideout of the local fence, Grudat. His smugglers travel
through the mountain cave from the airship docks to drop off contraband
to him, which in turn he sells for inflated prices to shady characters in
the city. The room is nothing more than a musty cave, dimly lit, packed
to the ceiling with boxes and crates.

south from the gates, flanked by huge mountain peaks on either side, to
the northern end of the city, where the cliffs become impassable. Spires
and towers rise up from the mountaintops on either side of the road,
sparkling with crystal walls, or flashing with moonstone sheen. As well
as many smaller homes that have been carved into the mountain walls,
the intimidating Appollyon Fortress can be seen touching the heavens
themselves to the east.

here, with Saturn's Way continuing its north to south route while

peaks and awe-inspiring towers.

here past the city library, a few residential dwellings, and a few
decorative crystal spires. The Appollyon Fortress is quite close and
the massive gates are clearly visible if one gazes directly east. The
mountain peaks rise up all around the busy roads, forming a strange
symbiotic relationship between the harsh natural enviroment and the
advanced civilization here.

Gates of Appollyon Fortress
All the combined might of the cosmic magic and the physical incar-
nation of cosmocy begins with a set of enormous platinum gates here.
The Appollyon Fortress the city of Ultarium's most powerful and most
awe-inspiring tribute to the universe. It has been built squarely
between two of the highest mountain peaks in the region, using that
as natural defense. As it stretches upwards and eastwards it looks
like an enormous golden staircase. A stern guard makes it quite clear
that visitors are not allowed inside the fortress.
