In Front of the Massive Iron Gate of the Bailey
A gigantic gate stands here, allowing entrance into the bailey for those
who desire entrance. While open now, in times of war it is shut and doubly
barred, and an iron portcullis dropped behind to reinforce it from battering
rams. Archers are visible on platforms at the top of the palisade and
doubtless other surprises would await the unfortunate soul chosen to assualt
this castle.

A Customs and Tariff Station at the Front Gate of the Bailey
All merchants incoming or outgoing from the bailey are required by law to
stop here and submit to search. While smuggling of goods is generally not
a problem, the prevention of spies infiltrating the bailey, or even the keep
itself is not taken lightly. The station also makes a fair profit from the
tariffs and duties imposed on the passing merchants.

The dirt lane along the southern palisade is not very well traveled at
this particular point except by soldiers and those interested in the store

A Rickety Wooden Gallows In a Dusty Courtyard
This dusty courtyard has one dominating feature to it, the old wooden

inhabitants to watch the executions.

The Platform on the Palisade Leading Up to the Motte
The palisade stretches up the steep slope of the motte, approaching the
keep above. Narrow and rickety, the wood of the platform is beginning to
rot and is in dire need of either replacement or shoring up. The edged of
the palisade logs have been whittled to a sharp point, to aid in defense of
the ledge should an attacker attempt to scale it.

A Bend in the Platform Along the Northern Palisade
The platform bends to the north here, following the palisade as it leaves
the bailey behind and walks its way up the motte to the keep. The
large wooden structure has been designed with two goals in mind, easy
defense of the castle in event of attack, and quick mobility of the soldiers
without resorting to the often commoner filled streets of the bailey below.
Obvious exits: -North -West
An imposing man-at-arms is strolling about, looking for trouble.

< 196h/200H 91v/124V Pos: standing >
A Narrow Platform Along the Northern Palisade
The northern side of the bailey palisade is in all probability the side
least likely to come under attack. Due to its proximity to the motte, an
enemy is unlikely to draw near without detection, and the crossfire between
the archers here and by the keep would be very devastating. The platform
as such is not as well manned as the rest of the platform, however it is
still under guard night and day.

The Top of the Tower at the Northwestern Corner of the Palisade
The northwestern tower connects to the platforms about the city here,
providing access to the soldiers and archers who both watch out for and
protect the bailey of the castle. Large rails have been erected, a safety
feature quite necessary, for in heavy winds the narrow passageways are
often very dangerous.
Obvious exits: -East -South -Down

A heavy ballista has been mounted upon the tower platform.
The lieutenant of the ballista crew is checking over the machine.
A heavy footman stands ready to operate the mangonel.
