Guard Post on the Grand Way
This is the eastern end of the Grand Way, where it meets the foot of
the Great Stairway. Here the roadlike platform passes beneath a guard
post, which serves to regulate access between the Commons District, and
the Main Sprawl of Aravne.

Grand Way is filled with tourists and visitors to the Commons District,
as well as street hustlers who eagerly greet them.

Skyway Connecting the Home Trees and Grand Walk
This skyway, unlike their swinging rope supported cousins connecting the
home trees to the south, is wide and sturdy. Thick wooden planks are
supported by steel aerial cables and giant aravne wood beams. To the north it
connects with the largest walkway in the Commons District, the Grand Way.

have been carved into the bark here, forming a makeshift stepladder to the

The Commons District Free Market
This is a section of the sprawling mass of platforms and walkways known
as the commons district free market. Usually the first place that
new goods are sold in aravne due to its proximity to the loading platform,
this marketplace is bustling with business. The lack of local tarrifs or
taxes on trade here has resulted in a wonderous marketplace filled with free
enterprise. Instead of large and well established shops, the bulk of the
market is made up of fast dealing salesman who both buy and sell wares to make
their living. A crafty and shrewd business mind could thrive in this place,
and it appears a few such have been able to establish permanent businesses
here and there.

A Wooden Skyway in the Commons District
Spanning the distance between the structures on the lower branches, this
walkway is thankfully accompanied by smooth wooden railings. A dizzying
view of the forest floor can occasionally be glimpsed through gaps in the
branches, although at this height it is hard to see much detail. Even though
this skyway is at the lower altitudes of the city, it would still be a very
precarious way to travel for ground dwellers were it not so sturdy and well
designed.

Entrance to the Commons District
Here, against the north side of the entrance tree, lies the entrance to the
commons district. The lowest level of the tree city of Aravne, it
the least fortunate of the residents reside. The bulk of industrial work, and
other functions neccessary to the maintenance of the city but not pleasing to
behold by city nobles are done at this level. Wooden structures
spiderweb into the lower branches in every direction to the north, looking
both spectacular in inginuity and confusing in actuality at the same time. A
spiral staircase winds down along the trunk of the tree to the forest
floor, while a broad platform extends out from the top of the steps. Skyways,
the wooden walkways which connect the structures here, lead off to both the
north and east.

On a Wooden Staircase
Here the staircase is even with the eastern side of the aravne tree, and
has climbed fifty feet from the forest floor. The size of the trunk is so
great that by the time it climbs another fifty feet to the lowest branches it
will barely have curved to the north face. Far below, the caravan unloading
zone can be seen east of the tree.

Before the Entry Tree of Aravne
Here the path comes to an end before one of the primordial trees upon
which the tree city of Aravne begins. The base of this old tree is
so wide, that it would take several minutes to walk around to the side of it
and catch a glimpse in the northernly direction. An worn but sturdy wooden
staircase begins here, and winds its way up and around the trunk to the lowest
level of the city.

Main Path Approaching Aravne
Here the main path begins to approach the largest of the giant trees,
which hold the tree city of Aravne itself. Even from a distance,
the magnificence of these leviathans is breathtaking. Still the very same
trees which began this forest, they are now unimaginably old and incredibly
large. The first of these primordial giants is directly north along the trail,
and blocks most of the rest of the forest ahead behind its massive width.

Here the main path to Aravne has taken a slight detour around a huge
boulder to the west. To the north, it continues its winding treck toward
the tree city, disappearing into the mammoth wood. Many of the ancient
trees here are covered in moss, and their first branches are nearly out of
sight they are so high up.

into the forest floor to the north. Judging by the mass of the stone at its
base, a good half of it probably lies below the ground. The origional path
is blocked by the boulder, and a pair of new paths have been forged to either
side of it. The path leading out of the forest lead back to the south.
