Landing Within the Charcoal Palace
Here the charcoal glows a little more brighter than before. The roof
of the palace is engulfed in flames that drift along the bottom surface of
ceiling. Small flares of fire billow outwards and touch the dark stone
floors, before returning to the maelstrom above. The heat has gone up
several notches here and everything seems crisp and dry. A guard checkpoint
has been set up here in what looks to be an impromptu gathering of security
in response to some unknown threat.

The hallway closes in a bit here, as a security checkpoint has been setup
before a large doorway within the eastern wall. The rest of the corridor
to either end of the checkpoint is much the same as the rest. There is an
odd coolness to the air here, as if the heat were being canceled out by some
other force. The floor is marked with heavy signs of traffic in the area
leading into the area behind the eastern door.

substance that makes up the palace begins to glow a dusky red in color. It
appears that the higher reaches of the palace actually are consumed with more
heat than the lower layers. Each caryatid pillar that holds up the curved
roof of this corridor appears as a gradient of color and heat; the higher
the material making up the pillar, the brighter red it glows. The corridor
leads off to the north, as well as the south where it looks to turn eastwards.
