   This small lake is quite serene, fitting perfectly into this
untouched environment.  It is surrounded by sheer walls on the
northern and western sides, and is fed a constant supply of fresh
water from the snow capped mountains above.  Its clear surface is
rippled by the occasional fish that tries for a floating insect.

   Here the sandy shore meets the serene lake.  The  forest drops
off to allow for a small area of grass, which fronts the lake.  A
vitually unnoticeable path runs along this path, probably used by
a fisherman to get to his favorite spot.  The trial however
untraveled has a destinct feel of disuse to it.

A Small Clearing by the Lake
   Looking at this clearing it is obvious that it is a fairly
popular place.  Looking out on to the lake and surrounded by
trees, the pleasure and relaxation is a welcome reprieve.  A
small sandy beach of sorts, leads into the lake affording an
appealing swimming area.

effort to achieve this the trail has been littered with stones.
The trail however does not appear to have been used in sometime
as the grass is begining to grow through the stones, and the
surrounding plant life is encroaching on the trail.

A Steep Ascent on a Rocky Climb
   The trail rises sharply here is it continues further up the
mountain side.  Loosely fitting rocks are piled together on the
slope and form a precarious footing on which to travel.  Falling
off to the left side of the trail is a spectacular view of the
surrounding countryside.  In the valley below the Cheltenham
village can be seen, and further back down the trail is a lush
plateau.

A Steep Approach to the Du'Maathe Castle
   Here the angle of the slope has been altered in order to
increase to difficulty of movement, in the aid of defense.
Whilst it makes the climb difficult its advantages to the
defense of the castle are readily apparent.  From here the
castle walls cast a shadow across the path, and are fairly
ominus indeed, though there seems to be little movement from
the battlements above.

Before the Du'Maathe Castle Drawbridge
   The equivelent of a mote has been chiseled from the rock, and
is spanned by a great drawbridge.  Whilst there is no apparent
defense in the mote, on closer inspection one can see that the
mountain stone has been polished, removing any handholds.  Given
the angle of the chute that is formed, one can see the height of
the drop afford the unlucky.

Drawbridge of the Du'Maathe Castle
   The drawbridge spans the polished stone chute below and gives
acess to the castle before you.  The drawbridge itself is as
impressive as the castle itself.  Made from solid oak and bound
with iron, gives it a feeling of being impenetrable.  The massive
chainlinks that lead to the lowering mechanism, are showing signs
of age and neglect.  Fittingly so, for the silence that seems to
emanate from the castle itself.

Sturdy Iron Gates to the Du'Maathe Castle
   These sturdy iron gates have been intricately carved with runes
of strength.  Even though looking at their thickness would indicate
their natural power.  The gates however do not appear to have been
closed in some time, and the hinges from which they have been hung
are showing signs of rust and decay.

   A young man and fairly fresh from the ranks, this Du'Maathe castle
guard is still quite a feresome warrior.  Standing nearly six feet
tall, his well proportioned frame is heavily muscled.  Carrying a
small sword and the knowhow to use it, it would be wise not to cross
him.

He's medium in size.
He seems to be moving much faster than normal..

Entrance to the North Eastern Parapet
   A small door gives entry to the north eastern parapet, upon which
a look-out is posted at all times.  Here the castle wall roads meet,
and provide a good meeting place for troop exercises.  Whilst the
parapet is no where near as high as the castle spire, a watcher is
able to see and alert the castle in ampule time, should an attack
come.
