Entrance to the Savannah of Sorrow
The Savannah of Sorrow begins here, a landscape within the desert
unlike any other. The Savannah stretches out around several
mountains, rocky cliffs and overhangs offer perches for the mystical
wildlife that inhabit the area. From all over the world people
come to this location in search of riches and adventures and risk
life and limb at a chance to descend below the plains and into
the infamous Pits of Cerberus. A large sign is planted in the
dirt here.

Within the Savannah of Sorrow
The Savannah stretches out in all directions here, the soil beneath
the feet hard as stone from years of being baked by the sun. Zebras,
camels, and wild dogs run through the plains, chasing after the hundreds
of birds that flock to the oasis in the west for drinking water. The
vegetation here is somewhat sparse, the only greenery being from the
tall palms or short cacti that are able to grow in this very dry
atmosphere. The entrance to the Savannah, noticeable by the sign stuck
in the ground, is close to the south.

The Savannah is host to numerous spieces of wildlife, all who
wander about in a constant search for food. To the east here

life here, out in the desert plains, run about, barking at

Over many years of adventurers travelling to this region a pathway
has formed that encircles the central mountain. Travellers have
longed hoped for a easier route up the mountain, or perhaps to

full of dangers for the unskilled. From here, another path leads

dangerous to walk on foot for most men and beasts. Just to the

The Savannah continues here with the rocky soil that is so
common in this region. The animals frolick and graze through

hands reaching out from the Pits at night and grabbing whatever

A Change in Terrain
The path changes here from the hard, sun-baked Savannah soil to a
well-used gravel road. The road runs the length from the Savannah
to the small village of Desolate and is quite popular with wagon
trains and caravans as well as just the usual band of travellers.
Though the journey is quite long, it is relatively safe, and many
adventurers perfer travelling along this route other than through

of evil greatly increase.
