A Steep, Rocky Passage
   This steep passage leads down to the caverns of the underdark and
climbs gradually upward toward the surface.  The tunnel has clearly seen
heavy use as it has been cleared of all stalagmites and other debris, and
has been widened in some places in order to be allow passage of wagons and
carts.  The heavy traffic has also gotten rid of most of the more
dangerous creatures that would often plague a tunnel such as this.

A Steep, Rocky Passage
   Rough rocks and broken stalagmites have been stacked along the sides of
the passageway has it heads upward to the surface and downwards into the
underdark.  Ruts in the stone show that heavy carts have been taken up and
down this tunnel.  The area is clean, with the exception of a few
flourescent lichen that cling to the walls.

A Wide, Sloping Tunnel
   The slope of the tunnel here is not as steep as to the north and south
where they climb is a bit abrupt and difficult to manage.  The passageway
is wider here, and there are spots where it appears workers have rested
while carting heavy loads up and down the tunnel.  A large sign is on the
eastern wall.

A Steep, Well-Tended Tunnel
   Deep ruts in the stone mark the passage of many heavy carts that have
traveled in both directions along this steep passage down to the vast
caverns of the underdark.  The tunnel has been kept smooth and clean, so
that loads aren't ruined by slipping down the slope to quickly.  The
tunnel continues its climb to the north and drops down sharply to the
south.

The Top of a Steep Tunnel
   A wide, steep tunnel dives downward toward the underdark here.  The
passageway is wide and well-tended, and marked with the ruts of heavy
carts that have passed through here.  A heavy stone door is right above,
presumably exiting the tunnel to the surface.  Metal chains along the
southern wall hint at a complex mechanism of some sort that must be used
to move carts and crates from the tunnel to the room above.

A Gigantic Stone Warehouse
   This massive stone warehouse extends well off to the east, showing a
size and space unmatched by most free-standing buildings.  The building
itself, like most of Quietus Quay, has been carved directly out of
mountains near the ocean shore.  A large stone trapdoor is in the floor
here, along with a complex set of machinery that appears to be designed
for moving around large, heavy crates.

A Gigantic Stone Warehouse
   Stone shelves line the high walls, with ladders and ropes used to raise
and lower crates to the elevated heights.  Without the shelves the
warehouse is likely to be one of the largest in the world.  There is
enough space on the floor alone to hold the cargo of fifty large ships.
Crates of every size and shape dot the room, many split into 'lots' based
on their owner.  The massive warehouse extends to the east and west and a
large set of double doors is to the south.

The Docks of Quietus Quay
   A high, rocky ceiling encloses this small harbor.  Quietus Quay began
as a secret pirate's port, but since its take-over by the Darvanu
mercenary house it has grown considerably, taking legal as well as illegal
shipments and goods.  A set of double doors to the north leads into a
gigantic stone warehouse that has been carved from the side of the
mountain and the stone walkway of the dock continues to the east and west.

The Docks of Quietus Quay
   This small ocean inlet burrowed itself beneath the mountains many years
ago and has created a perfect, hidden harbor for the docking and unloading
of ships.  Once a pirate's haven, the port has been taken over by the
Darvanu mercenary house, one of the most powerful organizations in the
world.  Ships carrying both legal and illegal goods now land here whenever
they please.  While in port the ships are safe from attack, once they
leave they are on their own.  The stone walkways of the docks continue to
the east and west.

path has been carved through the mountain to the north.  The path travels
past a massive warehouse that has been carved from the mountain and
appears to enter a wide cavern.  The docks have been carved from the rock
that surrounds a natural ocean inlet that has formed beneath the mountain.

   The famous stone docks of Quietus Quay lie just to the south.  The
take-over of this small port by the Darvanu has led to much heavier use,
even by legitimate businesses.  The path here is wide enough to almost be
considered a roadway leading through the mountain.  It is wide enough for
large, heavy wagons to be drawn through.

containing a number of small buildings.

   The mood here is as subdued as the lighting, which is virtually
non-existant.  The sailors and workers here have gotten so completely
inebriated that they all seem to sag against the bar.  The bar itself is
simple and non-descript, having few of the details that make taverns
pleasant to visit. A group of experienced deckhands and mercenaries
seem to be congregating towards the back of the room.

   This small ocean inlet burrowed itself beneath the mountains many years
ago and has created a perfect, hidden harbor for the docking and unloading
of ships.  Once a pirate's haven, the port has been taken over by the
Darvanu mercenary house, one of the most powerful organizations in the
world.  Ships carrying both legal and illegal goods now land here whenever
they please.  While in port the ships are safe from attack, once they
leave they are on their own.  The stone walkways of the docks continue to
the east and west.

The Docks of Quietus Quay
   A high, rocky ceiling encloses this small harbor.  Quietus Quay began
as a secret pirate's port, but since its take-over by the Darvanu
mercenary house it has grown considerably, taking legal as well as illegal
shipments and goods.  A set of double doors to the north leads into a
gigantic stone warehouse that has been carved from the side of the
mountain and the stone walkway of the dock continues to the east and west.

   The massive warehouse to the north, and the very docks themselves have
all been carved directly out of the stone of the mountain that encloses
this small harbor.  The ocean here is calm, protected from the wind and
weather by the mountain overhead.  The docks continue to the east and
west.

   The stone of the docks has been warn smooth by the passage of many
feet, as well as the loading and movement of cargo.  Once known only for
the pirates that docked here, this port has become a nearly legitimate
place of business.  The Darvanu mercenary house now runs this port and
allows all ships to dock here for loading and unloading, providing they
pay the proper fees.  Water from the ocean laps up against the docks which
run to the east and west.

The Docks of Quietus Quay
   A stone door to the east leads into a small building built along the
docks.  The dock itself continues to the west along the wall of a massive
warehouse, and south along the eastern edge of the protected harbor.  A
number of workers can be seen roaming the docks, along with a few Darvanu
mercenaries who seem to be keeping a fairly careful eye on everyone.

   This is one of the shallowest regions of the harbor in which one can
actually dock a ship.  Larger ships need to be docked somewhat further to
the south.  The stone docks are sturdy and well-made, apparently carved
from the walls of the mountain that encloses this small harbor.  Sailors,
dockhands and some Darvanu mercenaries march back and forth along the dock
going about their duties.

   The dock ends here as it approaches the mouth of the cavern that
encloses this small harbor.  A number of ships can be docked along both
the eastern and western edges of the port, and usually are.  This
well-protected inlet was once a haven for pirates, and still is, but it
has now come under control of the Darvanu mercenary house, the exhiled
Duergar house that has become as powerful and feared as many kingdoms.
